Design Team

Our professional objective as civil and structural engineers is to produce innovative designs which are buildable, economical and efficient and to satisfy the client's project specific needs and expectations. Every project designed and documented by WrightBarrat is supervised by at least one partner and checked by at least two engineers.

Neil Wright

Senior Civil and Structural Engineer

Neil’s diverse range of experience has been developed throughout Australia and internationally being involved in all aspects of structural, civil, geotechnical and project management. Neil completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with honors at the University of New South Wales majoring in structural and geotechnical engineering.

Neil specialises in the design of reinforced concrete, precast and structural steel structures and has significant experience in finite element analysis of multi-level, modular constructions and frequency sensitive structures under gravity and dynamic loading conditions. Neil’s other interest is the design and load assessment of road and pedestrian bridge structures.

Nigel Barrat

Senior Civil and Structural Engineer

Nigel’s experience has been developed on projects throughout Australia being involved in all aspects of structural and civil engineering. Nigel completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Wollongong University majoring in structural engineering.

Nigel has had significant design and construction experience, including working in heavy industrial environments, manufacturing facilities, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, residential and commercial developments. Nigel has a wide range of timber engineering design experience.

Dane Bege

Civil and Structural Engineer

Dane has a substantial array of experience in Melbourne and in rural Victoria. His civil but mainly structural expertise has been developed on various projects working for large consulting firms in Melbourne involved with major government and private clients extending across the commercial, educational, healthcare, heavy industrial and residential sectors. Dane completed his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and Masters of Engineering Technology (Civil) from The University of Ballarat.

Susann Wiik

Structural Engineer

Since completing her Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Oulu University of Applied Sciences in Finland, Susann has been working as a Structural Engineer in the Albury Wodonga region.

Having mainly been involved in the design of residential buildings, but also some larger commercial and industrial projects, Susann has developed an interest in timber structures and environmentally sustainable design.

Aiming to be able to provide practical and buildable designs, Susann also worked as a labourer for a company building prefabricated houses in Finland prior to graduating. This had further enhanced Susann’s understanding of timber structures and residential construction.

The engineering staff is supported by four drafting and administration staff.
