ALBURY REGIONAL ART GALLERY
WrightBarrat were engaged as the Consultant Civil and Structural Engineers for MAMA, Murray Art Museum Albury which is the new name for what was the Albury Regional Art Gallery, which has undergone a $10.5M redevelopment. The project involved the construction of a modern two storey art gallery building between two existing heritage listed buildings, both of which were strengthened and modified to incorporate gallery spaces.
An in-ground basement is provided which houses the mechanical plant and a feature 10m high double curved wall has been constructed to provide a unique foyer area. The facility was constructed using a vast array of construction materials being reinforced concrete slabs, stairs, ramps and columns, retaining walls, reinforced masonry, unreinforced masonry, structural steelwork, timber and the associated civil works included earthworks, road works, car parking and drainage.
